Who are BPS Marine?
-
As a German-American manufacturer based in the USA, BPS Marine offer high-end solutions that protect watercraft from algae, barnacles, and zebra mussels without the use of toxic chemicals. These work by emitting ultrasonic pulses directly through the hull, multiple times a second. Humans cannot hear these, but they create a high-pressure area that prevents microorganisms from attaching.
How effective is a BPS Marine solution?
-
Very effective, typically you will not need to clean your boats hull for at least 4 years and potentially even further. The system has a lifetime warranty so you will continue to receive the same benefit indefinitely, extending every future hull cleaning. There is a growing range of case studies online showing the effectiveness of the BPS system.
How is the system installed?
-
Depending on the size of your boat you would use between 1 and 8 transducers that are attached inside of your boat's hull using the included epoxy resin. The system is then connected directly to your boat's battery (either 12v or 24v options available). This should take between 3-8 hours depending again on the boat and number of transducers.
What are the power requirements?
-
The system operates continuously with each transducer drawing 0.25 amp hours, meaning a 2 transducer system (BPS-2) would use 12 amp hours per day (for reference a standard fridge would use between 35-40 per day). The system monitors the battery level and automatically switches off if less than 50% remains. Therefore, if you spend long periods at sea without connecting to marina power, use a trickle charger such as solar or wind power to ensure continuous protection.
